Donegal Catch Sustainability
As part of our on-going sustainability journey, we know it is important to drive awareness of the role Donegal Catch plays in the long-term care of our waters, marine resources and environment.
We are committed to making great food in a safe and sustainable manner. Under our 3Gs of sustainability we strive to grow our business while reducing our impact on the environment, Growing Communities, Greener Planet and Great Food.
Great Food
Sustainable Fisheries
Nutrtion
It is recommended that we eat two portions* of fish per week, with one portion being oily fish such as salmon. Fish has so many great, nutritional benefits, it is a fantastic source of protein, typically low in fat, and by consuming a variety of the different types, it will provide many different vitamins and minerals, each offering wide ranging benefits to the body.

Our Irish Fish
We have an important role to play in the sustainable development of the Irish fishing industry and the protection of our waters. We are key stakeholders in the Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) backed Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPs), which focus on improving health and long term sustainability of Irish fisheries. This is a five year plan that focuses on fishing practices, fishery management, onshore handling and data collection for marine scientists.
This map shows the catchment areas and fishing ports where Donegal Catch Irish haddock and whiting are caught and landed in Ireland.
